Product overview

Spectrum WOOD filament brings a timber-like visual and tactile character to 3D-printed objects. The PLA-based material is blended with timber particles, giving finished parts a surface that Spectrum compares with chipboard. It is aimed at decorative, interior, advertising and educational work where material appearance is an active part of the design.

Timber-like appearance and sensory character

Printed parts have a timber-like appearance and feel with a chipboard-like surface structure. During printing, the material also has a characteristic timber-like smell. Together, the composition and surface character distinguish this filled PLA from a conventional plain filament when the visible material effect matters.

Finishing after printing

Finished prints can be sanded, varnished, painted and otherwise mechanically treated. This provides two useful routes after printing: retain the original particulate texture, or refine it through mechanical work and coatings. Sanding can refine edges and exposed surfaces before varnish or paint, allowing the printed object to move from a raw model to a more finished decorative, display or interior piece.

Applications for creative and presentation work

Documented applications include decorative art, interior-design elements, advertising materials and educational projects. Decorative pieces can use the timber-like surface as their visual feature. Interior and advertising objects can combine that surface with sanding, painting or varnishing to reach the intended presentation. Educational projects gain a material example with a distinct appearance, feel and characteristic smell during printing.
