Product overview

Spectrum PLA Pro filament is modified PLA for functional parts that need more impact resistance and durability than standard PLA while retaining substantial rigidity and efficient processing. It combines high tensile resistance with very high impact resistance and durability comparable to ABS. Annealing can add greater heat resistance. Choose it for prototypes, tooling and demanding components where more toughness and productive printing matter.

Stronger functional parts from modified PLA

The modified formulation brings together useful characteristics of PLA and ABS. Printed parts retain the rigidity associated with PLA while gaining very high impact resistance and durability comparable to ABS prints. This makes PLA Pro a practical alternative to styrene-based materials for robust components.

Improved material flow also supports higher printing capacity. Teams can shorten production time without giving up the mechanical performance required for functional work. Better adhesion between layers strengthens printed parts, side surfaces come out smooth, and finished objects separate easily from the build plate.

Applications in prototyping and production

Use Spectrum PLA Pro for functional prototypes, tooling, jigs and fixtures, concept and demonstration models, industrial design work and parts that must withstand impacts. These applications benefit from a material that combines rigidity with toughness beyond what standard PLA offers.

Design teams can move from visual concepts to functional test parts with one material. Workshops and print farms can use the improved flow for recurring prototypes, production aids and short series. Makers gain the same advantages for durable functional projects that need more resilience than basic PLA grades.

Annealing for greater heat resistance

Post-print annealing increases thermal resistance and further improves impact performance through crystallisation. Apply even heating throughout the part, because the annealing process requires uniform temperature to deliver its full benefit. This optional step extends the range of warmer operating environments that PLA Pro can address.

When to choose PLA Pro

Choose basic PLA for simple models where rigidity is sufficient. Choose Spectrum PLA Pro when the part needs stronger impact performance, ABS-comparable durability, efficient printing and the option of better heat resistance after annealing. It is especially useful when a PLA-based alternative to styrene materials is preferred.
