Product overview
Spectrum FlameGuard ASA 275 filament combines the outdoor durability of ASA with flame-retardant performance for demanding functional parts. Its current TDS reports a V0 result from a UL94-equivalent test on a defined specimen. This gives engineers, workshops and advanced makers a more relevant material for projects that need weather resistance together with enhanced fire behaviour.
Defined flame-retardant performance
FlameGuard ASA 275 is designed to self-extinguish under the test conditions stated in its TDS. The V0 result applies to the defined specimen and UL94-equivalent method used for that test. It must not be extended automatically to every printed geometry or finished assembly, because wall structure, part design and production quality can change fire behaviour.
This precise scope makes the material useful for prototyping and producing components where flame retardancy is a genuine selection criterion. It is a stronger starting point than general-purpose ASA, without presenting the filament itself as third-party certified or every printed part as compliant.
Outdoor durability with easier processing
The ASA base provides resistance to ultraviolet exposure and changing outdoor conditions. Improved flow, low shrinkage and strong layer bonding make complex or larger functional parts easier to produce than with more demanding technical materials. These characteristics support cleaner dimensions, cohesive parts and more predictable repeat jobs for professional workshops and print farms.
Unlike ordinary ASA, this grade adds defined flame-retardant performance while retaining the weather resistance needed for exposed components. Choose it when outdoor durability and fire behaviour matter together, rather than selecting a standard ASA that addresses only environmental exposure.
Applications for engineering and production
Supported uses include functional prototypes, tooling, production tools, end-use parts and custom components. Practical examples include protective covers, assembly fixtures, equipment brackets and bespoke machine components that may face sunlight, changing weather or a requirement for enhanced fire performance.
For development teams, the material supports one path from prototype to functional production part. For specialist makers, it offers the same combination for durable custom equipment and outdoor projects where general-purpose ASA does not provide the required flame-retardant focus.
Professional workshop handling
The safety data sheet identifies antimony trioxide and classifies the mixture as suspected of causing cancer. Use adequate ventilation, avoid inhaling fumes released during printing and follow appropriate workplace hygiene. Take care around hot or molten material, which can cause thermal burns.
