Product overview

Fiberlogy PEI 9085 filament is a high-performance material made from a ULTEM™ 9085 polyetherimide blend for demanding functional parts printed on FFF/FDM 3D printers. This ULTEM 9085 filament combines high mechanical strength and stiffness with resistance to heat, wear, chemicals and UV exposure. Flame-retardant behaviour and low smoke emission make it especially relevant to transport and industrial projects where ordinary engineering plastics do not offer the required performance profile.

Why choose PEI 9085?

The material balances stiffness, strength and useful ductility in a lightweight thermoplastic. Low shrinkage also supports repeatable geometry. This combination enables robust, thin-wall parts and can reduce mass when a suitable metal component is replaced. It is a focused engineering grade for teams that need mechanical performance together with heat and chemical resistance. It is not a general-purpose filament for routine models.

A focused high-performance choice

PEI 9085 is not a direct substitute for every PEEK or PEKK application. Compared with PEEK and PEKK, this grade has somewhat lower mechanical strength, dimensional stability and creep resistance. Choose it when its balance of properties, flame behaviour and low smoke emission matters more than the additional mechanical and creep performance of those polymers.

Suitable applications

PEI 9085 is intended for aerospace, rail and automotive work, including functional prototypes and demanding parts exposed to heat, wear or chemicals. Typical ULTEM 9085 cabin applications include lightweight interior fixtures, seat-back shells, tray-table elements, display bezels and lighting parts. Documented FAA flammability testing of the filament adds traceable evidence for transport-sector material selection.
